Fallen Leaves' main page has a flexible timeline; here the threads are organized in chronological order. Years are given in relation to the Kyuubi attack on Konoha, which occurred on October 10. Thus, for the purposes of this index, the calendar year ends in September and begins in October.
Dog of War Meets the Blood Hound (Tsume, Kakashi) - Kakashi gets his ass kicked by a cold, a wolf-hound, a snow drift, and an Inzuka. Roughly in that order. Tsume has fun meeting ANBU.
Pizza and Morgues (Tsume, Ryouma) - Maybe all Tsume needs to do is get acclimated to Ryouma's jutsu with a little exposure.
Puking Up Is Hard to Do (Tsume, Genma) - Is it karmic payback or just empathy that sends Genma into Tsume's room when she needs him most?
Marked for Life (Genma, Haruichi) - Becoming one of a secret brotherhood with sacred oaths is more than just signing on the dotted line. Genma's there to make sure Haruichi is inducted into ANBU Hunters with the same ceremony all Rookies are entitled to.
Come Hell or High Water (Kakashi, Haruichi) - Kakashi gets on the wrong side of bad luck. Haruichi's first mission is, unsurprisingly, picking up the pieces.
Purgatory is a Hospital Bed (Kakashi, Haruichi) - Waking up to a friendly face always makes a bad mission worthwhile. Of course, if that friendly face isn't one you recognize, things get a little more interesting.
Stories We Tell (Tsume) - All clans have myths, and Tsume knows her own. Some involve demons, and others familial support.
Old Faces, New Names (Ginta, Ryouma) - Ginta possesses many faces, and Ryouma's met some of them before. This is the first time one of them's asked him on a date.
Paperwork (Tsume) - Tsume had dual missions: take down the missing nin, and report on Genma and Raidou.
Get Your Story Straight (Ryouma, Raidou, Genma) - Exhausted after a draining mission, Raidou and Genma collapse in bed. Ryouma is happy to draw all the wrong conclusions.
Pots and Kettles (Haruichi, Hoshi, Genma) - Genma gave Haruichi one simple rule as a rookie ANBU: Don't go getting yourself killed. Someone should have explained to Genma that Haruichi isn't very good at following rules.
Late Night Terrors (Ayumi, Kuromaru) - Late at night, when you're seeing ghosts, a talking dog is sometimes the best companion.
Thicker Than Water (Kakashi, Ryouma, Genma, Raidou) - Sometimes the aftermath is harder than the mission.
A Healthy Start (Hayate, Haruichi) - Maybe a ninja allergic to trees and smoke should reconsider living in the village of the Hidden Leaf in the country of Fire.
Attack of the Ankle Biters (Ryouma, Tsume) - Tsume and her children visit Ryouma in the hospital. Family is wha-t you make it.
Better Things To Do (Sumire, Ryouma) - No one wants to spend the evening alone.
Barking Up the Wrong Tree (Ginta, Kuromaru) - Peach waffles and pups on painkillers. Whose apartment is this anyway?
Winner Picks Dinner (Genma, Raidou) - Spicy curry as a weapon in a spar? Oh definitely! Followed by sexy dancing, a bar brawl, a drunken kiss, and other regrettable moments of extreme inebriation.
Before You Hit the Ground (Kakashi, Ryouma) - Being a genius doesn't mean you always win. Sometimes you need a teammate.
Hanging Over (Genma, Raidou) - The morning afternoon after, wherein Raidou is anxious and Genma is clueless, and they are both hung over as all getout.
Visiting Hours Are Over (Kakashi, Ginta) - Kakashi and Ginta have more in common than they ever would have guessed. Sometimes that's not a good thing.
Under Pressure (Yuzuya, Ryuichi) - Yuzuya's pissed, and happy to take it out on someone else. Ryuichi just wants to see some blood on the floor.
Words and Deeds (Kakashi, Ginta) - Kakashi doesn't do the friends thing. Ginta doesn't count.
The Hardest Part Is Over (Ryouma, Kakashi) - Ryouma doesn't appreciate being stood up. Kakashi doesn't appreciate being accused of murder. Friends and weapons cut both ways. [R-rated]
Storm in a Teacup: It's an Angry Fish (Kotetsu, Ryuichi) - Tempers flare so easily in ANBU - which is why Ryuichi takes it upon himself to beat it out of Kotetsu before he gets himself killed.
Discord in the Dark (Kakashi) - Kakashi doesn't want to talk. Hoshika listens anyway.
Mission: DOOM Arc Drunk on Dreams | Restlessness and Fury | Bruised and Alone | Dark of the Morning | Nothing to Hold (Ryouma, Tsume, Kakashi, Haruichi) - Things fall apart; the center cannot hold. When an easy mission goes straight to hell, all Ryouma, Tsume, and Kuromaru have to rely on is each other. Separated, injured, tortured, and dying, they may not have even that.
Give the Other Fella Hell (Tsume, Raidou) - DOOM aftermath: Tsume's got a weight on her shoulders. Good thing Raidou's good at listening. And he brings steak.
Lead Me Away (Ryouma, Kakashi) - DOOM aftermath: Sometimes, nightmares don't go away when you wake up. Luckily, Ryouma doesn't go away ever.
In The Sky With Diamonds (Tsume, Kakashi) - DOOM aftermath: Kakashi and Tsume have an intellectual debate on Ryouma's good points. Or they try to. Mostly they just get high and feel him up.
And Other Such Expletives (Kaito, Raidou) - Kaito's got a problem: he's new, inexperienced, and chained to a freakin' wall. Good thing this isn't Raidou's first day on the job.
Better Than It Was (Genma, Raidou) - Raidou's got a problem: he's pretty damn sure he's not the guy cut out for rookie baby-sitting duty. Good thing Genma's willing to listen--even when Raidou doesn't want to talk.
Can't Choose Your Family (Haruichi) - The Head of the Hyuuga Clan summons Haruichi to a private discussion over a meal, but the fact remains that family is never a polite topic to raise at the dinner table.
Mission: Celestial Navigation | Reconnaissance and Recovery | Escape Velocity (Haruichi, Katsuko) - Katsuko's first day in ANBU and her very first mission, and who is her partner? One seriously cyclothymic Hyuuga medic. All they have to do is retrieve a princess with a valuable bloodline from a secret lab hidden in the howling deserts of Wind Country, without getting caught by the renegade scientist kidnappers themselves. Or their experiments.
Expletives Don't Cover It (Kaito, Raidou) - Raidou's pancakes are enough to lure even an eighteen-year-old out of bed by nine-thirty. Even better, Raidou is willing to help move Kaito out of his apartment, and into ANBU HQ.
Tearing at the Seams (Tsume, Kakashi, Ryouma) - DOOM aftermath: Tsume's family is everything Ryouma always wanted, everything Kakashi can barely stand, and everything that might break them all.
Ordinary Miracles (Haruichi, Hoshi) - Haruichi brings his work home with him, but Hoshi keeps him whole.
Breaking Up Is Hard to Do (Ginta, Kakashi) - As long as Ginta's in the hospital anyway, he might as well check up on a friend. Or--someone who used to be.
Empathy Is A Good Thing, Right? (Genma, Kaito) - When Genma heads to Intel to get some information on the rookie his best friend is going to babysit, he gets more than he bargained for--including his very first student.
Just Promise To Keep Your Heart Broken (Ryouma, Tsume) - Alone in their own beds, with only their own nightmares for company, is the last place Ryouma and Tsume want to be.
Heaven Forbid You End Up Alone (Kakashi) - Kakashi's a genius. He always gets what he wants. And sometimes it gets him back.
Ew, What's That Smell? (Genma, Tsume) - When a supposedly scentless poison turns out to still have a scent, Genma elicits help from the (arguably) most sensitive nose in ANBU. But bodily poisons aren't the only thing that come up.
Gestalt (Kuromaru, Yasuo, Waki) - It takes a village to raise a child, and a clan to bring back a canine.
The Safest Place You've Found (Kakashi, Ryouma) - Shiba vanishing on Ryouma can mean only one of two things: Kakashi's dead, or Kakashi is trying to distance himself again. Luckily, Ryouma has terrier-levels of tenaciousness, and Kakashi listens to dogs.
Straighten Up, Face the Day (Kakashi) - With the help of mouthy dogs, Kakashi comes to terms with the night before.
Hit the Bell Curve (Kaito, Raidou) - There are all sorts of coping mechanisms in ANBU. Most of them don't involve checking yourself into psych.
Blood Will Make it Right (Ryouma, Tsume, Kuromaru, Yasuo) - Trapped in a whirl of change, Tsume and Ryouma struggle to find their places among friends.
When Nothing Is Right (Tsume, Kuromaru, Tori) - When the world falls apart, sometimes there isn't a way to put it back together.
Equilibrium (Raidou, Tsume) - When the world falls apart, sometimes the best way to hang on is to just keep tearing.
The Dogs Ate My Homework (Kaito, Genma) - Genma gave him a very simple assignment. It didn't get done. But if that leads to limit-control and a little more trust, Genma's willing to give him an extension.
Could You Bite the Hand? (Genma, Raidou) - When a friend makes you determined to get drunk to stop the memories, the last thing you want to see is yet another friend. Good thing Genma's persistent, and Raidou's too drunk to protest. Much.
Sunburst (Kuromaru, Tsume, Hayate) - Hayate's first meeting with these Inuzuka was not, luckily, his first meeting with any Inuzuka. Still, a newly released Kuromaru is a bit much for anyone.
Justify My Reasons (Ginta, Kotetsu) - Neither crush nor babbling makes things better when the target of a mission turns out to truly deserve what's coming to him. Yet somehow, that's not the worst part.
Throwing a Bone (Tsume, Raidou) - Tsume is fantastic at avoiding people, but Raidou is fantastic at finding ways around that. Dangling children, for instance, is a brilliant way around that.
Connect the Dots (Tsume, Haruichi, Kuromaru) - Two weeks after Kuromaru and Tsume's chakra connections were severed to save their lives, two weeks after Haruichi had nightmares about the rot that infected them infecting Hoshi, the trio finally meet up again and start the long process to make things right.
Pay it Forward (Genma, Tsume) - Tsume and Kuromaru may be feeling better, but Genma's a protective best friend; he's still got a bone to pick. He's not really looking for a fight, but if Tsume wants to bring one, he's happy to take her up on it.
Can't Stay Lost Forever (Hiro, Haruichi) - Newly inducted into ANBU, Hiro has an unexpected encounter in the process of handling some paperwork. What do you say to someone your family declared dead more than five years ago?
Lost and Found (Genma, Haruichi) - Genma visits the infirmary to restock his medkit, and finds Haruichi nearly catatonic in the aftermath of his unexpected meeting with Hiro. So he does what any good friend would: he patches him up, takes him upstairs, and pours him a stiff drink.
Keeping Secrets with the Koi (Ginta) - Ginta's bright babble is his best defense; he talks and talks, yet somehow never manages to really say anything. At least not to other people. After a painful break up, a grisly mission, and a horrific nightmare, he finds himself home on the Sakamoto estate, telling his secrets to the fish in his grandmother's koi pond.
The Weight of the World (Ryouma, Hayate, Katsuko) - A chance meeting keeps Ryouma from strangling under weights, and gets Hayate and Katsuko lunch.
Playing Hero (Tsume, Asuma, Kuromaru) - Caught in the middle of an alpha fight, overpowered and losing, Tsume should be grateful to the bum who steps in to help. Grateful isn't something she's good at. Friendly, on the other hand, she can manage--especially to ninja obviously so down on his luck.
One Step | Two Step (Asuma) - Swearing into ANBU is serious business. Even more serious when your dad is the Hokage.
Fighting Words and Dirty Talk (Ginta, Asuma) - If anyone needs a friend right about now, it's Ginta, and who should roll back into town but the kid he used to slide down the banisters in the Hokage's Palace with. Childhood friends don't always make for adult buddies, but Ginta's willing to give it a shot. Asuma won't know what hit him.
Hit the Mark (Natsumi, Kaito) - 'Rookie' doesn't mean 'dead,' and Kaito and Natsumi are determined to prove it. First up? Run.
Mission: Blow Things Up (Kotetsu, Katsuko) - Missions, nicknames, nightmares, fish. Sometimes blowing stuff up leads directly to new found friendships, memories best left undisturbed, and unique coping mechanisms.
Make It Right (Tsume, Ryouma, Kuromaru) - A broken canine and two broken people. Sometimes, changing everything puts it back to rights.
Don't Wanna Fight This War (Ryouma, Ginta) - Two weeks after Ginta's fight with Kakashi and a strained conversation between Ginta and Ryouma, two old friends finally face each other again. Ginta and Ryouma are both are looking for answers--and, just maybe, to see if there's anything of their friendship left to save.
Say It Right (Ryuichi, Katsuko) - Normal people say hello and introduce themselves. Ryuichi and Katsuko punch each other in the face.
The Color of Incense (Genma, Hayate) - Between drugs and worries, some unexpected truths are shared in a little hospital room. So are friendships born.
Ask Me Another (Hiro, Genma) - Hiro's first real ANBU mission starts out simple: debrief a trusted veteran Hunter from his hospital bed, after a mission gone wrong. What could be easier? But ANBU is a world away from regular-ops, and Genma is just not in the mood.
No Explanation Necessary (Genma, Raidou) - Raidou is unimpressed with Genma's again-injured state. That's the only reason he goes to see his friend in the hospital. Really.
Picking up the Pieces (Ryouma, Kuromaru) - Ryouma gets shoved into the alpha dog role, and learns that while alphas protect and heal, sometimes they're healed themselves.
Girls! Girls! Girls! (Genma, Kaito) - Genma and Kaito are both back from their missions, and in the time-honored male tradition, they catch up in the locker room to talk about Serious Stuff: girls.
Playing Doctor (Natsumi, Genma) - Natsumi wakes Genma from a post-mission nap and a mid-day dream to ask for a little hands-on healing. Under polite talk of cherry blossom viewing, there are several questions simmering, not least of which are: Is this the hot chick Kaito was so worked up about? and How on earth can he possibly think these dishes match?
Great Party, But it's Hell on the Furniture (Katsuko, Kotetsu) - Katsuko had promised him food, and Kotetsu had promised her fish. Neither had promised a fight, but that works, too.
Survivor Mentality (Ryuichi) - There's one sure-fire way to calm down after a rough mission. Friends, talk - and drugs.
Keep You Safe (Katsuko) - Family might know their own better than anyone, but that isn't always saying much.
Leap of Faith | Shield of Faith | Fall From Grace (Asuma, Natsumi) - Princess and Rogue is a game that's been played before. But when the princess is Konoha's best archer, and the rogue is the Hokage's wayward son, and the mission that pits them together looks like it might claim both their lives... Well, sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith.
I Don't Want to Remember Falling (Natsumi) - In the aftermath of her mission with Asuma, Natsumi visits her family and faces herself.
Wild Dog in a Nest of Vipers (Ibiki, Tsume) - Ibiki is slowly becoming a master interrogator. His current subject? Traitor-in-question, Inuzuka Tsume.
World's Oldest Painkiller (Tsume, Ginta, Kuromaru) - After Ibiki has finished questioning Tsume, Ginta -- who saw them leave -- finds her in her room and offers the only solace he really can. Booze.
Chemical Lessons (Raidou, Kaito) - In the downtime between missions, Raidou has continued training Kaito. Nothing has seemed to help stop his limit, once it starts, but Raidou has one more trick up his sleeve.
Carry Me Home (Katsuko, Tsume, Kuromaru) - Katusko finally gets a chance to meet the elusive Inuzuka pair that live on her floor. Lucky her, Tsume is touchy and Kuromaru is in rare form. Lucky them, she has the strength to carry Kuromaru home when things take a downturn.
Make Me Better (Waki, Tsume, Kuromaru) - There are important things in Kuromaru's life. Tsume. Lamb. Training. Lamb. Being carried. Lamb. Rot and surgery don't rank on his lists, even if they mean the world to Tsume.
Dude, that was YOU? (Ginta, Hiro) - There's no one better for emotional highs and lows than Ginta. Hiro finds that out to his chagrin, when they encounter each other after a cryptography lecture. But why do they both have the feeling that they've seen each other before?
Blind-Sided (Tsume, Kakashi, Kuromaru) - Kuromaru runs into Kakashi, mayhem ensues, Tsume intervenes and, in true Inuzuka style, makes things worse. Just another day in HQ.
Words Without Meaning (Tsume, Ryouma, Kuromaru) - Ryouma's home, and Kuromaru is thrilled to see his alpha. But Tsume isn't feeling the same -- not after finding out only that morning that he's sleeping with Kakashi. And she certainly doesn't want to talk about Kuromaru's first item of conversation: Ibiki. Ryouma, however, has a way of getting things out of people. Even Inuzuka.
Can't See the Light | Hide From the Sound | Fall to the Ground (Kakashi, Ginta) - As if bound by karma, Ginta and Kakashi are forced together under desperate circumstances. In the end, even all they have to give isn't quite enough.
Death and All His Friends (Kakashi, Ginta) - When ANBU agents return from a mission gravely injured, their mission objectives in tatters, their very lives hanging in the balance, there is a whole machinery at work to receive them. Ginta and Kakashi are on the edge of death, but the gatekeepers, the medics and the mission handlers are there to pick up the pieces and try to fit them back together again.
Lullaby for a Stormy Night (Chihiro, Ginta) - Sakamoto Chihiro was wife to one ANBU, and is grandmother to another. She knows all too well what to expect when a somber-faced agent dressed in formal greys knocks on her door in the darkest hours before the dawn.
All We Know Is Distance (Ryouma, Chihiro, Ginta) - Ginta's grandmother isn't impressed by the tattooed hoodlum in Kakashi's hospital room, but she lets Ryouma see her grandson anyway. Ginta's too groggy for good conversation, but 'I'm sorry' only takes two words.
The Devil's Got My Secrets (Tsume, Ryouma) - Tsume is more than willing to sit vigil with Ryouma, and provide as much distraction as necessary. In this case, distraction comes in the form of a card game. The stakes? The truth.
Where the Wild Things Are (Ibiki, Kiba, Tsume) - What happens when you mix a five-year-old Inuzuka and a hardened ANBU interrogator? Lions and dango, of course! Turns out even Ibiki has a soft spot. Who knew?
It Won't Be Long (Hayate, Ryuichi) - Ryuichi isn't exactly friendly, but Hayate's learning there's more to him that meets the eye, anyway.
Knife's Edge (Ryuichi, Katsuko) - A standard raid goes deadly wrong, and another ANBU team is caught in the crossfire. Can Katsuko and Ryuichi defeat impossible odds?
No Rest for the Wicked (Ryuichi, Katsuko) - Ryuichi wakes up in the hospital to find an angry Katsuko sitting by his bed, and then he has to wonder whether it really was better to stay unconscious after all. Really, it just proves that there's no rest for the wicked, unless of course Dramamine is involved.
Never Too Late (Ryuichi) - Two days after his mission, Ryuichi is still dealing with the aftermath.
April
Fire and Water | Darkness and Light | Pirates and Ninja | Kunoichi and Bastards (Asuma, Tsume) - Asuma's only recently back from his mission with Natsumi, and Tsume still isn't off medical leave, but he's whole enough and she's the best tracker they have -- and a weapon has been stolen from Konoha. In an emergency, everyone fights.
Coming and Going (Kuromaru, Yasuo, Waki) - When Tsume needed him most, Kuromaru was there for her, even from a distance and at great cost.
Feuds and Families (Tsume, Asuma, Sandaime) - Tsume and Asuma are recovering under tender care of Konoha's medics. Kuromaru gets to show off his new rhinestone eyepatch, and Asuma dances in the hospital halls. No, really.
After the Rain (Hiro, Raidou, Genma) - After four days unconscious, Genma's only been awake a few hours, but already Intel has sent an agent to debrief him. At least it's one he knows. But unfortunately for Hiro, Raidou is not pleased.
Just Enough Rope (Hiro) - Even debriefers have debriefings; after his grueling interview of Genma and an irate Raidou, Hiro is no exception. But faced with delivering his report -- and justifying his questionable decisions -- to the impenetrable and enigmatic Sato Kotoe, while trying to keep his mind off an unsettling encounter in the hallway of the ICU, Hiro might be forgiven for wondering if he's been handed tust enough rope to hang himself with.
Almost Not Alone (Rina, Genma) - Coming home from a mission, Rina finds Genma in the hospital with injuries to rival the ones he'd had when she met him five years ago, and all of her painstaking work on one of his hands destroyed. It feels so similar, but they find that things have changed between them when they weren't looking
Welcome to My Morning (Ginta, Kakashi, Ryouma) - After nearly a week in a coma, Kakashi finally wakes. He can't quite believe Ginta's really alive, or that Ryouma has been there waiting for him all this time.
The Shadow Proves the Sunshine (Raidou, Genma) - Allowed out of bed at last, Genma and Raidou escape from their claustrophobic hospital room for a breath of fresh air on the balcony. They share a purloined cigarette, a series of confessions, and at long last, a kiss.
All My Regrets Are Nothing New (Kakashi, Ryouma) - The key to a conscience-easy life is paying your debts. At least, that's the theory anyway. But Kakashi's weeks behind on visiting Obito, and Ryouma's got secrets of his own to share.
Not That Kind of Hand Job (Genma, Haruichi) - Haruichi's just back from a mission, a little banged up himself, when he finds out four of his ANBU charges (and one good friend) are in the ICU. So off he goes to see about knocking some sense into Genma's head, if Genma's stable enough to take a beating. Watch out Genma, Haruichi has his snark on and he's looking at you.
The Little Things Give You Away (Ginta, Hiro) - After his grueling experience debriefing Genma, the last place Hiro wants to go is back to the ANBU ICU. But he's already managed to weasel his way into acquiring a copy of Ginta's file, and visiting friends is different. Complete with rapid-fire verbal sparring, Hiro and Ginta's secret plans for ANBU reorganization, tales of explosive missions past and present, and, of course, more koi.
All You Can Take (Ryuichi, Katsuko) - Ryuichi's piss-drunk. Katsuko's just pissed. They both still have some major issues to clear up, in typically violent ANBU fashion.
Meant to Live (Kakashi, Chihiro, Ginta) - Once there were two men, a Genius and Jackass, who had a lot more in common than either of them was willing to admit. With Ryouma gone, Kakashi is confident there is no one left in the world who would dare to call him friend. Sakamoto Chihiro would be delighted if Kakashi never came near her grandson again. Ginta is a born rebel: he defies them both. With nothing left to ask for and nothing left to give, Ginta and Kakashi come face to face with each other, with their pasts, and with the truth -- friend is much more than just a word.
Never What I Expected (Chihiro) - Sakamoto Chihiro knows about propriety and responsibility. It's time, she tells herself, that her grandson Ginta discard the rebellious games of childhood, and take his place as his grandfather's heir and head of the Sakamoto clan. But Hatake Sakumo's son Kakashi, it seems, stands in her way.
Mission: Lay Your Armor Down | Something That the Kife Took | Let's Not Speak of It Again (Ryouma, Katsuko) - Ryouma's never been too good at aftermaths. And after things with Kakashi took a sharp turn for the disastrous, he signed up for the first mission out of Konoha. The problem with running is that sometimes, you run straight into someone else. Katsuko's got issues of her own--and while she can appreciate Ryouma's biceps and wonder about his scars, she's much less appreciative when he starts asking about her own.
Morning, Alone (Katsuko) - Katsuko has some serious thinking to do about the wisdom of one-night stands.
Warm in the Shadows (Genma, Raidou) - Genma and Raidou are out of the hospital at long last. In their first hour of freedom, all they want is a little fresh air, a little taste of normal life. A visit to the Academy schoolyard to look in on Raidou's brothers seems safe enough. Of course they haven't talked about that balcony kiss in the three days since. Did it even happen? But just when Genma is deciding he needs to offer Raidou a graceful out, Raidou turns Genma's world on its head, and kisses him again, this time like he really means it.
Chasing the Sun (Genma, Raidou) - After visiting Raidou's brothers, Genma and Raidou find themselves back in Genma's apartment. And not long after that, in Genma's bed. What, exactly, had they been so afraid of? As Genma says, and Raidou agrees, they should have done this months ago. [NC-17] Rated XXX for graphic sexual content, and <3<3<3 for romance.
Hit the Ground Running (Genma, Raidou) - Raidou and Genma wake up together, and find out just how different the world can be when your best friend is something more than that. [NC-17] Rated XXX for graphic sexual content, and <3<3<3 for romance.
No Way Back (Raidou, Genma) - They've slept together, now they're waking up together, but something has gone horribly wrong. In possibly the worst morning-after in history, Raidou wakes in Genma's bed to find his bandages coming undone. There is panic, there is violence, and then, for the first time in ten years, Raidou sees his own face.
This Time Is Different (Ryouma, Ginta) - Ryouma's back from his latest mission and its awkward morning-after with Katsuko. Back, and still avoiding Kakashi. Back, and just one step away from a chakra pill overdose. After the medics buff him up, he stops by to visit Ginta, hoping for sympathy. What he gets looks a lot more like an intervention. And a lot more like what he really needs: a friend.
Something We've Been Missing (Katsuko, Kakashi) - Kakashi's training to get himself back into mission shape--and to keep his mind off of Ginta and Ryouma. He's doing a pretty good job of it too, until Katsuko shows up wearing one of Ryouma's shirts.
Speak My Language (Hiro, Ginta) - When Hiro finds Ginta recovering at his grandmother's house shortly following his release from the hospital, their casual conversation starts off light but soon veers into weightier topics, including arranged marriages, Hyuuga sexuality, koi breeding, and the all-important question of whether or not Ginta is turning into a mackerel.
Up in Flames (Tsume, Asuma) - It is not a date. Asuma has to go to a political function, and Tsume's watching his back for him. In a dress. But it's not a date. And when something explodes in the Inuzuka compound, whether it's a date or not no longer matters — saving children does.
Hair of the Dog (Ginta, Kuromaru, Tsume) - Kuromaru's looking for some fun while Tsume continues to recover. In human form and wearing his most excellent sparkly eye patch, he catches Ginta's scent and follows it. It's Ginta's first night out, dancing on crutches at Rocking Horse World, Konoha's swankiest gay bar. Explaining "gay" to a confused Inuzuka canine isn't exactly the kind of entertainment Ginta'd been looking for.
Never and Always (Tsume) - A week after Ryouma leaves for his last mission, he's covertly declared missing. Tsume gets a summons to report to ANBU HQ for a classified mission: Find him and bring him home. But some things are beyond even ANBU abilities. Beyond friends' abilities. And beyond Tsume's abilities.
May
Off the Reservation (Ginta, Kakashi) — When Ryouma went missing, Intel and Arakaki made the decision not to tell Kakashi — until Ginta got involved. ANBU's jackass and genius defy direct orders and go AWOL, three weeks late, to track down the man that broke them apart, with Pakkun as their only help.
Tiny Little Fractures (Genma, Raidou, Ibiki, Arakaki, Asuma, Sandaime) — When a friend asks you to help him do something suicidal, sometimes the best help you can offer is to try to stop him. Genma's blown the whistle on Ginta's and Kakashi's ill-conceived search for Ryouma. Now a team of ANBU hunters is hot on their tail.
Somewhere a Clock Is Ticking | Waiting for Silent Sunrise (Asuma, Ibiki, Kakashi, Ginta) - Asuma and Ibiki have a mission: find AWOL agents Hatake and Sakamoto and bring them home. They don't much like one another, but when they finally find their targets they have more important things to worry about. Like whether or not Kakashi and Ginta will survive at all.
July
The Birthday Party (Ibiki, Tsume, Kiba, Kuromaru, Hana, Idate) - Ibiki and his younger brother are invited to Kiba's birthday party. Tsume isn't exactly welcoming, but it turns out she has much bigger things to worry about when her daughter almost drowns.
September
Somebody Saved Me (Genma, Katsuko) - Genma has an Eros mission with a jounin he only knows by reputation. Katsuko knows Genma by reputation, too. In the aftermath of a flawlessly executed mission, they bond about the things that usually keep them just a little separate from everyone else.
